[EVENT | November 13] A Conversation With Heidi Reichinnek

An event with the German Left Party’s parliamentary co-leader.

The German socialist party Die Linke made a major breakthrough in federal elections earlier this year. On November 13, Dissent and the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung will host a conversation with Heidi Reichinnek, head of Die Linke in the German parliament, and journalists Ross Barkan and Lukas Hermsmeier, on left-wing politics in Germany and the United States.

Heidi Reichinnek is a German politician and member of the Bundestag for Die Linke. Since 2024, she has been serving as the leader of Die Linke in the Bundestag, alongside Sören Pellmann.

Ross Barkan is the author of five books, including the novel Glass Century and the nonfiction book Fascism or Genocide, now out from Verso. He’s a contributing writer to the New York Times Magazine, a columnist for New York Magazine, and the editor-in-chief of the Metropolitan Review, a books and culture review publication.

Lukas Hermsmeier is an independent journalist and author from Berlin based in New York. He writes about U.S. politics for Die Zeit, Die Wochenzeitung, and other publications. He is an op-ed contributor for the New York Times. His first book Uprising—Amerikas neue Linke (2022) is about the resurgence of the U.S. left since the Occupy Wall Street movement.

Admission is free. Please register here.

This event is cohosted by Verso and sponsored by Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung – New York.
